Top Rope Course

Have you tried climbing and want to learn how to do it on your own? Start here! This is a climbing course for those who want to start with rope climbing and get a green card. Among other things, you will learn how to belay, climb, tie the figure eight know, do a buddy check, how to handle weight differences between the climber and the belayer, and what you need to know about the equipment we use. The course is held outdoors on two occasions of 3 hours each. You need to bring your own climbing shoes. If there is no available date at this time, or you would rather book a course on a different date, please submit a private course request or call or email me and we can find dates that work for you.

Sport climbing course

This is for you if you already have a green card or a red card, and you want to get started climbing outdoors on top rope or lead on bolted routes. You will learn how to climb, belay, rappel, build and clean anchors, about the gear we use, how to manage weight differences, and about access and ethics outdoors. If you don't have a red card, you will get one after you pass this course. If you already have one, you will get to learn more of other things instead. This course is taught during two full days outdoors. You will need to bring your own climbing shoes, food, and water. If you have a harness, belay device, and helmet, bring those too. Otherwise you can borrow them from me. If there is no available date at this time, or you would rather book a course on a different date, please submit a private course request and we will find dates that work for you.

Sport climbing multipitch

Learn how to do multipitch climbs on bolted routes. You should already have taken a sport climbing course (or have more or less equivalent skills) and have a decent amount of experience with belaying, rappelling, and with building and cleaning anchors. In this course you will get to learn about belaying a second, rope management, problem solving, what to consider during transitions between pitches, and how to descend from a multipitch climb. This course is taught during two full days outdoors. You will need to bring your own climbing shoes, food, and water. If you have a harness, belay device, and helmet, bring those too. Otherwise you can borrow them from me. This course is booked on request, so either click the "Private event" button, or contact me by phone or email.

Try climbing with ropes outdoors

Want to try your hand at outdoor rope climbing without having to take a bunch of courses first? We'll fix that! This is for anyone who is curious about climbing, or for those who want to organize a fun after work or team building activity at work. I will take you out to a suitable rock and set up anchors, and you just climb while I take care of everything related to safety for a full day. Bring your own climbing shoes, lunch bag, and suitable clothing. Where we go depends on what grades you can climb. If there is no available date at this time, or you would rather book a course on a different date, please submit a private course request, just call or email me, and we will find dates that work for you.

Private lesson 1 h

Take a private lesson for an hour at a time and choose for yourself what you want to work on! For example, we can work on improving your climbing technique, help you get rid of a fear of heights, practice belaying, refresh your memory if you've taken a course but haven't climbed in a while, or something else. This lesson is held at Malmö Klätterklubb, and up to 3 people can share a lesson. Reservations are made on request and payment is made on site. The price is 400 SEK/h. Hire an Instructor

Hire me by the day and customize the content completely according to your wishes. For example, we can work on climbing technique, rope handling skills, rappelling, I can guide you around different areas and crags, or teach you if you want to become an instructor or climbing leader yourself. First Aid & CPR

Learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid for adults. Be prepared in case you ever come across an accident, for example when you are out climbing. The course takes about 4-6 hours, depending on whether there are special requests for content, and can be held e.g. at your home, in an office, or outdoors if the weather is nice. Top Rope Course in Spain

Come to Costa Blanca in Spain and learn to climb! This top rope course is perfect for those who have not climbed before. You will learn the basics about how to climb and belay, about the equipment we use, and how to climb safely. During the 2026 trip, courses can be booked anytime between October 20 and November 12. Bring climbing shoes. If you have a harness, carabiners, a belay device, and a helmet, feel free to bring that too, otherwise you can borrow from me.

Sport climbing course in Spain

Take a sport climbing course on amazing cliffs in Spain! If you already know how to top rope, a sport climbing course is a good next step. Here you will learn everything you need to know to be able to climb on top rope and lead climb outdoors on bolted routes. You will learn about climbing and belaying, about the equipment we use, how to build anchors and set up ropes, how to get everything down safely, how to rappel, and how bolting and public access work when it comes to climbing. The course is two full days outdoors, and you can borrow all the necessary equipment, except climbing shoes. Bring climbing shoes. If you have a harness, carabiners, belay device, helmet, quickdraws, ropes, and slings, feel free to bring that too, otherwise you can borrow from me.

About Surmount Klätterkurser

Surmount organizes climbing courses and events in Scania and southern Sweden, and in Costa Blanca, Spain. If you want to get a green card, red card, learn to sport climb, rappel, become an instructor or outdoor climbing leader, improve your climbing technique, learn something specific, or just try climbing, I can help you.

**Who am I? **

My name is Sami Ylinen. I started climbing in 2006, and I've been a certified climbing instructor since 2016 with the Swedish Climbing Federation, Svenska Klätterförbundet. I have previously worked as a climbing instructor and shop manager at Klättercentret in Malmö, and I also teach climbing at Malmö Climbing Club.

I'm originally from Timrå, but I've lived in Malmö for more than 20 years. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy climbing sport or trad, preferably in Spain, making pancakes over a camp fire, painting and drawing, and building stuff. I also work as a goldsmith. I have masters degrees in music and in pedagogy, and I'm a certified first aid and CPR instructor.
