Sport climbing course in Spain

Take a sport climbing course and learn to climb outdoors on amazing cliffs in Spain! If you already know how to climb and belay on top rope, a sport climbing course is a good next step. Here you will learn everything you need to know to be able to climb on your own on top rope and lead outdoors on sport routes.

You will learn about climbing and belaying, about the equipment we use, how to build anchors and set up ropes, how to get everything down safely, how to climb rocks, and how bolting, access, and public access work in relation to climbing. The course is held during two full days outdoors. Bring climbing shoes, a harness, and a helmet. Everything else required for the course you can borrow from me, but if you have your own slings, carabiners, belay device, quickdraws, and rope, feel free to bring those too.

Practical information

  • Prerequisites: Green card or equivalent skills for top rope climbing.
  • Maximum number of participants: Up to 4.
  • Age limit for single participants: 18 years. With a participating legal guardian: 13.

We will be outdoors all day. Bring food, enough water, enough clothing according to the weather, as well as sun protection. It is often warm and sunny in Costa Blanca.

Book a place to stay and tickets to the area yourself. The course will be held at Vall de Guadar, or Barranc de Guapdar, or Echo Valley, different names for the same place depending on language and which book you're looking at. The crag is about 5 km from Polop, and about 15 km from Benidorm. If you're staying nearby, it might be possible to arrange for transportation to and from the course as well in exchange for a small fee for fuel.
